Would You Rather…

Just a Mom Who Tris posted this Would You Rather game on her on blog last week (ok maybe two weeks ago- time travel makes things all wibbly-wobbly) and invited people to go ahead and copy and answer the questions. Here goes.

1. Would you rather run a 5k or a marathon?
5K. Absolutely 5K. I want to do a marathon to scratch it off the bucket list, but I can’t imagine ever preferring that to a 5K. Then again, I never thought I’d have 3 half marathons under my belt either, so ask that again in 2016.
2. Would you rather run in the heat of summer or the icy winter?
Icy winter. I’d rather run in a gorram blizzard (and I have) than run in the heat. Cold Gear and layers work wonders. Can’t peel off your own skin when it’s 90+ outside. Also, running in the heat makes you look like a sweat zombie. Running in the snow makes you look bad-ass.
3. Would you rather have new running shoes or a new running outfit?
Is someone purchasing these items for me? If someone else is buying, get me the shoes! I’m far too cheap to buy myself new shoes (until they are on über-clearance.)

You are welcome to buy me these 🙂

If I have to buy it, I’ll get myself a new running outfit at Old Navy. I can get a whole outfit for less than the clearance shoes would be.

4. Would you rather run alone or in a group?
Usually, I prefer to run alone. It’s one of the few times I can read (and by read I mean listen to audiobooks.) Though I did thoroughly enjoy running with my wine-drinking friends at Brotherhood Winery.
I’m also pretty slow and feel like I hold other people back, especially when I slow way down for my walk intervals.
5. Would you rather run next to someone in a race who tries to talk to you constantly or someone who breathes heavy and grunts?
I probably would say the grunter since I like listening to my audiobooks and I get pissy when I miss something, but I was stuck next to a heavy breather/grunter at the General Montgomery Day 8K and wanted to strangle her with the cord from my earbuds.  I’m revising my answer and going to go with the talker.
6. Would you rather run a race because of the convenience (location, price, travel) or the swag?
If it’s got good enough swag, I’ll travel or pay a little extra. I can’t turn down a local race, especially one that benefits the community, like the Maybrook Autumn Classic 5K. It’s in my village AND benefits the village recreation programs and park.
7. Would you rather run a race with a group of friends or by yourself?
For a running race, I do like heading to a race and celebrating at the finish line with friends, but I prefer to go my own pace (see #4).
For obstacle course races, a group of friends is a necessity. Way more fun can be had shoving each other over walls and passing around a flask of rum. Little group, big group. Doesn’t matter as long as everyone’s in it for the fun.
8. Would you rather run a PR but result in an injury or finish strong and missing a PR?
I’d rather finish strong and miss the PR. Having done the injury thing a few times, I don’t particularly care to voluntarily put myself on the DL. Plus, you gotta look good for those finish line photos.
9. Would you rather eat a big meal the night before or a big meal after a race?
After. A few hours after, actually. I can’t even contemplate eating anything more than a cookie right after a race. After cooling down and taking a shower though, get me the biggest, greasiest, bacon-iest cheeseburger you can find.
10. Would you rather be chased by a swarm of bees or a pack of dogs?
Dogs. I feel I could fight off dogs way better than bees. I could climb on something and get away from dogs. The bees kind of can get wherever they want. And maybe the dogs don’t want to attack. Maybe they want to play or run with me?  That would be cool.
