Log S’more Miles in 2014

Happy New Year, everyone!

I’m  not one for New Year’s resolutions, but I do set goals for the year. Last year’s was to complete 13 events in 2013 and to get another Trifecta under my belt. No Trifecta, but I definitely got my 13 in ’13.

One of this year’s goals will hopefully be already done in 10 days. It is to finish a half marathon. My knee decided to act up really bad on my last long training run, so I’m scared that I won’t actually get to finish this race. I couldn’t even make it to 9 miles last weekend.  But this is my big goal for the year so I will put my everything into it, even it means running on a knee that is about to give out (as long as it gives out at 13.2 miles.)

My other goal for this year is for my PurpleStride NYC team to raise over $1000 for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.

We raised a good amount of money last year, but definitely want to up the ante this year. To accomplish this, I am asking you to Log S’more Miles.

Log S’more Miles is a virtual run that I have set up to help reach the fundraising goal. A virtual run is a run that you do on your time, at your pace, whenever and wherever you want. Register on the Virtual Runs tab on this page or by clicking here.  After you register, run a 5k (3.1 miles.) Run it whenever. Split the distance if you need to. Then run a little more. If you are a new runner, run another few minutes. If you are an experienced runner, run an extra 3.1 miles or 10 miles or 26.2 miles if you feel so inclined! Just get in some more miles. Then post your accomplishment to the event page on Facebook or comment about it right here. I’ll send you this medal.

Proceeds (registration fee minus the cost of the medal, PayPal fees, and shipping fees) will be donated to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.

Since it’s the New Year, I’m pretty sure you either have a goal to get fit, start running, or run more. This virtual run will both get you the extra miles you need and will get pancreatic cancer research the money it needs to find a cure. A win-win as far as I can see.
